Ken Winklepleck
began collecting bullets when he & a
friend started hunting for relics in
the late 1980's. At first they
hunted near Middletown, Monrovia &
Frederick, MD & then moved on to the
areas around Harper's Ferry, Charles
Town & Shepherdstown, WV. It was
while trying to identify the bullets he
found the passion for all of the
differing types of Civil War bullets &
other Civil War relics developed.
By 2000, he was determined to have one
of each bullet in the Mason &
McKee Civil War Projectiles Small Arms
& Field Artillery reference
book. He started buying other
hunters collections from Civil War
shows & internet dealers. During
this process he found that there were
a lot of other bullets besides the ones
in M&M so he started
collecting the more unusual ones also.
By 2015, his collection numbered in
the several thousands. His
collection also includes buttons,
buckles, breast plates & box plates.
The majority of the lots below were
found near Charles Town, WV;
Sheperdstown, WV; Summit Point, WV;
Kernstown, VA & Winchester, VA

George Kurisky
was
a metallurgical engineer & spent his
working career specializing in
stainless steel wire production &
application. He also had a tremendous
appreciation for the craftsmanship &
metallurgy associated with edged
weapons & began collecting
military swords with his first
acquisition in 1963. Over the
following six decades he assembled an
amazing & diverse collection of over
230 swords, most dating from the
latter half of the 19th century.
George would be happy knowing that
other collectors will appreciate his
efforts to preserve history. His
collection is below:
